The editorial – At the time of wishes…
In 1871, writing to her brother Isidore, Sainte Zélie wish him " all the blessings from Heaven” and add “If the good Lord hears me, you will be the happiest man in this world and in the other…” (CF 76, December 28, 1871)
Six years later, going to Lourdes to ask healing from her cancer, full of gratitude towards her sister-in-law for everything she does for her, she confides to him: “I will pray to the Blessed Virgin to Heavy that she returns it to you a hundredfold in this world and in the next. » (CF 207, June 14, 1877)
Desiring not to dissociate the two worlds and their happiness, Zélie stands out in this from the Virgin Mary saying to Bernadette during from his 3rd appearance: " I do not you promise not to make you happy in this world but in the next.” What some translate, from the dialect of Lourdes: "not in the way of this world but the other ".
And if, at the time of wishing, if we asked ourselves the question of true happiness to wish for those who are dear to us, we could hear Pope Francis answer us: not the one that makes one so satisfied with oneself “that there is no longer room for the word of God, for loving our brothers and for enjoying the most important things in life” but the one who “frees us from the weakness of selfishness, from comfort, from pride. » Apostolic exhortation on the call to holiness in today's world 68 and 65.
On this path of the Beatitudes to live from this world, we wish you a Happy New Year 2020!
