Day broadcast live on the YouTube channel "Basilica of Alençon"
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; who should I be afraid of? The Lord is the bulwark of my life; before whom shall I tremble? »
Psalm 27, 1
“…for a long time you allowed me to be bold with you. Like the father of the prodigal son speaking to his eldest son, you said to me, "All that is mine and yours." »
Thérèse, June 1897, to her Mother Superior (MsC, 34V)
What is the Rain of Roses?
“I will spend my heaven doing good on earth […] you will see it will be like a shower of roses. »
Saint Therese
As early as 1992, a religious community took this phrase literally and organized an intercessory vigil in the basilica of Lisieux. Participants are invited to write a “letter of request” to Saint Thérèse. Many people have been granted.
It is a spiritual time with God and Saint Thérèse. The goal is to ask for the intercession of Saint Thérèse in favor of the intentions that are important to us, by means of a letter. This letter should be written, if possible, before the Rain of Roses day (otherwise bring pens, paper, stamped envelope).
It should be put in a sealed envelope with your own address on it. All letters will be entrusted to the Carmel of Alençon. They will not be open. They will be sent back to you in a year, before the Rain of Roses 2024.
We encourage people who have received graces, following a Rain of Roses celebration, to contact us now to prepare their testimony. It will be read, by herself or by us, on October 5.
