Offer a mass
The sacrifice of the Eucharist is offered for all. The Church allows the faithful to associate themselves more closely with this sacrifice of the Mass by a particular intention entrusted to the celebrant, who has always been recognized as having the possibility of joining this particular intention to the general intention.
Intentions
Mass can be requested:
- in thanksgiving for newlyweds, for golden weddings…;
- for a baptism, for the arrival of a child, for a birthday…;
- for a deceased;
- for a sick person, a cure, a person in difficulty…;
- for a particular intention (which may not be specified for the sake of discretion).
Date
Mass can be celebrated on a specific date so that you can unite in prayer.
offerings
Mass is priceless.
However, from the very beginning, the faithful wished to participate in the Eucharist through offerings in kind or in cash. These offerings were intended to cover the costs of worship, the clergy's livelihood, and the life of the Church. This practice gave rise to the custom of Mass stipends, which dates back to the 8th century and is rooted in the Old Testament, where the priest received a portion of the sacrifices offered to God.
The priest must always be able to live from the altar. Canon law legitimizes this practice (Canon 945) and regulates it (Canon 946 et seq.). The material life of the Church and its clergy therefore depends on this voluntary contribution from the faithful.
The amount of the offering is proposed by the Assembly of Bishops and does not entitle you to a tax receipt.
- For a Trade Fair, the offering currently stands at €18.
