The sister of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Léonie (1863-1941), is in the process of being beatified. And yet... She has long been considered the least gifted daughter of the Martin family.
On June 17, 1899, Mother Aimée de Songuis, superior of the Visitation in Caen, wrote to the sisters of Léonie, Carmelites in Lisieux. The third of the Martin family has just entered the monastery again, after two unsuccessful attempts as a visitandine. But the view taken by the Superior is intended to be reassuring: “Our dear little Sister is well, very happy… So don’t worry, our very beloved Sister is well on her way, we see this more every day. She understands the spirit of our holy vocation with great ease and will make a good, very good nun. For three weeks especially, there has been a real transformation in her. Your dear little saint (Thérèse) is certainly no stranger to this. »
