Why financially support the Sanctuary?
The missions of the Sanctuary
Coming to the sanctuary of Alençon is to discover the source of Louis and Zélie's marital and family happiness: the love that unites them, their unwavering faith in God, through the joys and trials of their daily lives. Their lives are imbued with the Gospel.
1st mission: To make known and spread the message of Saints Louis and Zélie Martin
Since their beatification in 2008, Louis and Zélie Martin have continued to inspire others. Their world-renowned daughter Thérèse, born in Alençon, also remains a powerful ambassador for her parents. Her "little voice" of trust is rooted in her family life.
Raising awareness and benefiting from the intercession of the first couple canonized together comes at a cost. This long-term investment involves:
– The organization of missions throughout France and soon abroad.
– A continuous presence on the Social Media and Internet with the publication of content.
– The publication or co-production of a documentation on the Martin family (books, comics, films, various media, etc.).
2nd mission: Welcoming pilgrims
Every year, the various locations of the Sanctuary of Alençon, including the Maison Martin, see nearly 25 pilgrims pass through, either individually or in groups.
Welcoming them in the best possible way and improving their human and spiritual experience is our priority. This involves:
– Maintain the premises of the Sanctuary and the hotel.
– Allow the continued presence of dtwo religious communities responsible for reception, spiritual support, and prayer for your intentions.
– Think and program new mediations and expansion places (shop, hotel, etc.)
3rd mission: Develop pastoral care for couples and families
Louis and Zélie Martin sanctified themselves in their daily lives: as a couple, as a family, as a business, as commitments, and as a Christian. The Church's intuition was to canonize them together and present them as models and intercessors, in order to support and inspire everyone, especially couples and families. This is the mission of the Alençon Shrine, established in 2015. It must be supported because it involves:
– The proposal and communication of a dozen of events per year: Valentine's Day pilgrimages, fiancés' weekend, Cenacle, END, Single mothers' holidays, Family Day...
- An experienced management "offerings" policy to participate in these events and make them accessible even to those on the lowest incomes.
- High-performance dedicated proposals: renewal of marriage promises, wedding anniversaries, family blessings…
4th mission: Listen and care
The vocation of a sanctuary is first and foremost to listen and take spiritual care of people.
Throughout the year, religious men and women, priests, and lay people welcome visitors and take the time to listen, and also offer God's blessing or the sacrament of forgiveness. Spiritual care and listening are intrinsically linked to a place like Alençon. Maintaining them involves costs and involves:
– Management of more than 1,000 prayer intentions per month and prayer for these intentions.
– Support and guidance for volunteers who work in the national crisis line of the Sanctuary. Open to all those who experience the difficulties of family and married life.
